R&D Chemist

We are excited to announce the creation of a new permanent full-time position for an R&D Chemist. This role has been added to support the continued growth and innovation of our product portfolio. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of new animal health products, optimization of formulations, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes—all within a compliant and science-driven environment.

Benefits:

Salary range: $45,000 –  $55,000 per annum.

  • Salary will be commensurate with knowledge and related experience.

Day Shift Times: 8 am to 4:30 pm – Monday to Friday (5 – 8 hours shifts).

Health Benefits: Enrollment into the company plan upon completion of a successful probation period.

Group RSP Plan: Enrollment into the company plan upon completion of a successful probation period.

Holiday Bonus: $1,000 bonus for Full-time active employees. It will be prorated based on your start date and active employment days. This bonus will be paid in late December.

The R&D Chemist is responsible to perform analysis and documentation to ensure compliance with Health Canada, FDA, and HACCP guidelines for manufacturing medicated feed additives. They will report directly to the R&D Coordinators as well as the Director of Regulatory and R&D who will coordinate their responsibilities within the R&D department.

Job Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Perform R&D testing for assigned projects
  • Chemical, physical, spectroscopic, and chromatographic examination of raw materials and finished products
  • Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities to cGMP standards
  • Complete paperwork for the release of materials
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and environment to cGMP standards
  • Perform or assist with testing required for R&D Laboratory Investigations
  • Write method development protocols and reports

Applicants for this position will need to have the following skills and abilities:

  • Analytical laboratory experience
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledgeable in the use of, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Strong attendance record
  • Positive attitude

Educational Experience/Background:

  • Minimum B.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related science field
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an R&D laboratory
  • LC-MS experience is an asset
